SSAS Analysis Services Install on 2012 R2

Hi,

Has anyone experienced any issues deploying the default cubes for AX2012 R2 ?

I am following the install Guide and the process runs to completion, but the Database is not created.

There is also no log file created. I wonder where the log information is going ?

I see that the documentation for 2012 R2 has changed slightly around being able to specify a DB name. Should I try creating the DB manually ?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Jim

Create the OLAP by running the wizard from within an AX client preferably running on the server running SSAS. Make sure you've completed the initialization checklist so any dependent data/tables are in place before you do so.

Simply deploy the already out-of-the-box existing Dynamics AX project.

there is no need to create databases manually; if Tommy's answer would not help, let us know - I've spent lot of time with cubes, hopefully will be able to advice.

    regards

RE: SSAS Analysis Services Install on 2012 R2

I double checked the installation checklist and everything looks ok.

I removed and reinstalled the AX Analysis Services on the SQL 2012 DB box.

Then tried to deploy using the wizard again from the client while rdp'ed to the APP server.

All appears well and it processes the cubes for about 10 minutes and says it was successful.

I would expect to see a DB created under analysis services on the SQL box. But nothing is there.

I do not see anything in the event viewer on the AOS or the DB system.

We have SSRS and the AOS running ok, although security is rather tight at the client and could be the issue.

But with no logs or event errors it is hard to track.

Any suggestions on how to track this ?

I tried using the AX debugger, but it looks the deploy processing is run from .NET code in a DLL.

Do you have UAC active on this server? If so, open SSMS "as administrator" (aka elevated mode) and connect SSAS and see if the database pops up. I have seen this behavior before. I tend to turn off UAC on SQL Server. Regular users have no business logging on to that server anyway.

    Tommy,

Thanks for the tip. Running as Admin, the Analysis Services DB magically appears.

    Thanks for helping!!

Just glad I could help. I've been in the same situation - struggling with the same "magic". ;-)

So I am having the same issue and I cannot figure out what is happening.

I cannot get the OLAP database to create in SSAS.

I have installed SSAS (2012), installed Dynamics AX Analysis Services configuration, and SQL 2012 AMO.

I can see in AX, under analysis servers > OLAP servers, the OLAP server name where I installed SSAS and Analysis services. It is marked as default and is using the standard initial partition key.

But under the OLAP database tab, there is no 'Dynamics AX initial' database.

When I try to deploy the default project using the wizard, I get the error "no database named *** was found on server ***".

Of course, I look in SSMS as admin and do not see the OLAP database, where I would usually see the dynamics AX initial database and the cubes.

I have tried this process a number of times in different places, but I cannot get the database to create.

    Help! please :)
