Use workflow to automatically relate an Item to a parent entity

Using the Case entity. When a Case is submitted the Analyst need to relate a CI to that case.  I have created an application called CI that holds all of these records  My Case entity has several tabs as shown. When "Relate CI" is selected the CI Tab appears and the associated entity displays. This is where you would select "Add Existing CI and the Lookup Dialog appears to enter a Name.

I have a group of Templates I run that will create a case of a certain type. Each of these have a CI that will always be related to it when submitted. I want to automate this process to use workflow to update the lookup dialog with the CI Name.
