I have an entity whenever a user updates or changes any field value in the record of the enity,it has to create a new record with the modified field changes and keep the old record as it is.

Can any one suggest me what i should do?

Preimage will give field value before change,  if you want to create new record with the old values then you can store all the fields under plugin image and can create record in your update plugin. Did you check this sample (www.inogic.com/.../clone-records-in-dynamics-crm) it should help you to quickly set clone. further you can update any additional data as well.

    Thanks

Kesh, if you are not able to implement your requirement with workflow then you have other options to use Script, plugin or addons available.

    Thanks

I agree we can do with workflow but based on this cloning, old record's current date and time should be set as end date, and any suggestion is accepted

    Hi Kesh,

There are multiple option to implement your requirement, you could write code, can use addon or simply setup a workflow for this. You can simply create workflow and run it on field changes,

Check this post which should help you, :thatcrmblog.wordpress.com/.../using-workflows-for-cloning-records

If you are facing any share it here.

    Thanks
