Maybe I'm the only one complaining about such simple things, but I would like to ask if my experience with dynamics is somewhat "normal". My impression is that we have a bunch of new developers that do the same errors as any other developer before. Let's start with trying to sign in to this forum: I entered "Sven" in the field "Community Screen Name" expecting a screen name exactly that: a simple name. What I got was this: "That sign in name is not available." - the field was labeled "screen name", not "sign-in-name" ... using a wording that is unambiguous would result in a better experience.
I wanted to test the "Talent" solution ... first problem: find the page where I can start a test period. Why can't I simply create a new environment and select something like "Test with the following solutions:..."? Instead of that, I had to search via google for the page that provides a test drive.
I started the process to test drive the Talent solution - and got an instance in the US ... unfortunately, that is not really a good option for an EU company; many companies would simply stop here.
Now I did set the security group in the TestDrive-instance - unfortunately, this did NOT add any user to the instance ... I'm the only one who is able to log in. Funny thing with the dialog for selecting a security group: when I try to click into the search box, I need to click the symbol, not the text inside the box - the text is just a label and does not set the focus into the search box ... that did drive me crazy the first time I tried to search for a group.
Then I switched to admin.microsoft.com to add licenses to the test users. That was easy, but still: there are no additional users in the test instance. The documentation tells me that it might take some minutes to replicate the new settings (how many minutes?). It's some hours later now, but still no test users in my test-instance.
In the old admin center I can only see my "Europe"-instances - in the new admin center I can see the "TestDrive" instance. In the new admin center, there are 29 "settings" of which only 4 do open inside the new user interface - 24 are simple links to the corresponding dialogs of the only CRM settings dialogs.
So, my question is: "Are these problems normal?"
Hello,
So Regarding the test drive experience, I agree it is not that good and should be integrated in the admin center. The reason you got your instance in the US not in the EU is that with test drives, they don't create an instance for you specially, it is an already created instance that you try out. If that instance was created in US region, then everyone from all over the world will use that US instance.
Admin centers are confusing yes, if you are new to this field, it is very confusing, if you are not, then it is somewhat nice actually. We know the old admin centers and how bad it was, we are happy to see things moving to the new one and even if that includes a bad user experience (at least for me). Microsoft is re-designing a lot of their user experiences and currently we are in the middle of it. The way they release things is by keeping the old and the new interface and try to close the gaps between them until the new interface is as powerful as the old one, then they ditch the old interface.
With all the new PowerPlatform buzz, you should expect some fast changes to happen on both user and admin interfaces, they will settle down in the near future for sure.
I may have answered 1 or 2 of your many questions :)
Thanks
