Business Central on Azure Cloud

Dear All -

We are in the process of implementing business central and I have a question on the Azure Cloud version (Saas).

Does Microsoft allow their customers to choose which country will host their data and which country they will  use for data replication?

For example, I would like to host my data in Germany and replicate it (to allow services continuity) in France.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Greetings.

Thierry

Regarding D365BC SaaS, the tenant physical location is actually managed by Microsoft based on your AAD account and it's always the nearest region up to you and in accordance to data regulations.

Regarding the new Switzerland datacenters, I don't know if Microsoft i will use them just now for its SaaS service. I think that a communicate will be out when this process starts. You can use this new region for your IaaS installation for sure (D365BC onpremise installed on an Azure VM).

Thanks Stefano for your input. Microsoft has annoucend a few days ago that it has opened 2 datacenters in Switzerland: news.microsoft.com/.../. Should this not apply to Dynamics 365 Saas from 2020 ad they mention? I am actually not sure whether this is Saas or Iaas. Thanks for your help!

With SaaS, there is not much you can do. Microsoft decides it based on your region.

When you activate a tenant, localization and "Azure Region" is linked to the country of your Azure AD account. You cannot directly choose on which datacenter region the tenant is created. About replication for service continuity: Microsoft is responsible for this aspect.
