Schedule a resource for multiple locations

Hi all,

I have a resource (user) that works part of the week on location a and another part of the week on location b. It seems that I'm not able to select  multiple locations with work schedules for the same resource and I'm not able to create multiple resources for the same user. What would be the best way to go from here?

Thanks!

Marc

Looks like there is no way out of the box. Maybe you could create two generic resources, link them to the user resource through a new custom lookup, and, then, whenever a resource booking is created for one of those two, have a workflow that will re-assign that booking to the original user resource?

If you want to just change location for the resource at certain times, you can create a workflow that will trigger on schedule and change the location (address on the user entity).

Changing locations through a workflow may turn it into a problem for the booking engine, though, since it will always be looking at the currently selected location

Yes. Another workaround is to create a Booking for a dummy Work Order for a dummy location (Service Account) with the appropriate address for this resource for each shift. Scheduling engine will take into consideration the location of the Booking for scheduling purposes.

After having a consult with Ben Vollmer, the option that Alex mentionsed seems to be the best for now. There is indeed not an OOB option to manage this particular functionality and it's not on the roadmap to do so.

    Thanks all!
