"General Ledger Entries" Fields in Power BI

Hi:

If you access the Chart of Accounts, click on the hyperlink for an account's balance, and use Personalize you will see columns such as Source Type and Source No.

Pulling in these columns will let you see such data as the vendor's ID in the General Ledger Entries window.

You "see" this logic, as well, in Power BI by pulling in data from the GLEntries and VendorLedgerEntries tables.

Next, pull in the DimensionSetEntries table in Power BI to see the Dimension_Value_Name field.  Doing so "removes" the general ledger and vendor data from your report.

It's as if you cannot have vendor data and G/L dimension data displayed at the same time in Power BI.

Is there a way in Power BI to pull in both vendor data and G/L dimension data, using these or other tables?

Thanks!

John

    Hi

You can select multiple table in Power BI and link them together or build report from them. You basically in Get Data select as many tables as you need then Load or Load & Transfer then you can build you own Query in Power BI or build base on selected tables.

I used following guideline long time a go to learn basic power bi. You may be way advanced for this guideline but thought to share. See about 1:40:00 up to 2:10:00

Hi, just an idea, as I'm not very proficient with Power BI. It may be much more convenient to use Power BI directly.
I would create a new page in BC, gather all the required data when opening the page, and just display the new page in Power BI.

    Hope this also helps.

    Thanks.

    Hi MahGah:

Thank you!  I know all of this, to be honest.  :)  My question is more along the lines of "why is this happening?".

    Hi Zhu:

That is a great idea.  Unfortunately, I don't how to create a page in Business Central to accomplish this.  :(

    Thank you, though!

:) I guessed that you know that but thought to share.

I honestly do not know the answer. I onetime ran to similar issue and it turns out I did not defined any relationship between tables in Power BI and since those tables had no relationship selecting one causing data return "blank" for the other one and looks like data disappear. But I am sure this is not the case here.

    Hi MahGah:

I think that I may have figured out why.  In the test data that I'm looking at, there apparently is no vendor data associated with G/L dimension data.  At least, I think that that is the case.

I'll know better tomorrow.  But, at least I now have something to go on.

    Thanks!
