We went live Nov 2008 and were set up for MRP using sales quotes to drive demand/input forecasts, however never received training or instruction. I have read the manuals and understand MRP, have set up order quantities, etc., run regeneration, however, nothing is driving demand, so everything seems to be an exception! Is anyone using sales quotes for MRP? Any advice or guidance on getting started?

As long as you have the MRP setup window checked for looking at Sales Quotes (Which is what I assume you are referring to--not MO Quotes), then it should work. Are you getting other demands (i.e. from Sales Orders) for the same items for which you are NOT getting SO Quote demand? That is a key question to me because if you are getting no demand at all it could be in how the item is set up.

As far as I know, Sales Quotes will not do anything to drive demand because they have no effect on inventory. Sales Orders, on the other hand, will work with MRP.
You can generate Manufacturing Quote/Estimates from Sales Quotes using the Manufacturing Sales Item Detail window via the Additional menu.
