Missing Help Files-New Module Install

Strange one here; SL2011FP1. Client recently added the Payroll module. Installed the module in the proper way (Control Panel, Add/Remove, Modify, added Payroll module). Installation works fine, but the Payroll Help Files do not appear when you click the Help icon in any Payroll screen, and the Payroll Help section is missing from the Main Help menu. The sl_pr.chm file is properly located in the \Applications\Help menu, and I can launch it successfully when I open it directly. How can I get the Payroll help menus merged/properly launched from within the SL program (without the obvious uninstall/reinstall the entire program)? Thanks.

    Hi

You can try to re-install the User-guides alone

    Hope this helps..

    Thanks

    Santhosh,

Good thought, but not successful.  The User Guide install only extracts the pdf files to the installation location, and not the Help chm files.

Here's the answer to this one (in case anyone was curious...).

The Help files, while installed in the \SL\Application\Help directory, are not launched from there when clicking the Help button within the program.  They need to be located in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DynamicsSL\Help" directory (I imagine as part of the client install) in order to appear in the Help Table of Contents and directly to the Payroll module Help when launched from within a Payroll module screen.  Simply copying the .chm to this location did the trick, but it needs to be done on the server and ALL client workstations (or I guess you could uninstall/install the client on each piece of hardware, which would be painful just to update a Help file).
