Customising the Portal Search Results page to include custom entities

From what I've read, previous versions of the portal required custom code to be written to allow for custom entities to be searched in the portal. However, with the changes to the newest version of the portal, I believe this is not possible now? If so, is there now some in-built way to factor in custom entities into the portal search?

By creating a Portal Search view for my new entity, it shows up in the faceted sidebar as a match under 'Projects', which suggests something is working -

but you can see the actual results don't include it. As far as I'm aware, I've set the entity permissions correctly, because I've got Entity Lists and Forms working fine for the entity - they just don't show up in searches. Is there something I've missed somewhere?

Thanks for the reply, Tom. What you've said mirrors my own thoughts on it following my testing.

I've voted the idea up. :)

I've experienced the same behavior.  This is just an assumption my part, but I am guessing that the results are being returned as a result of adding the 'Portal Search' view to the entity.  Doing some testing, I found that the results changed based on if that view was active or inactive.

So again, my assumption is that the search is recognizing the 'Portal Search' view, but the content has not been indexed so no results are returned.

This has been brought up at the following link:
