GP 2015 Slow Reports on RDS / Citrix

Posted on by

Hello All

I am having trouble with reports being slow on RDS/Citrix XenApp 7.6

3 Terminal Servers: 8GB RAM / 2 VPU

Disk I/O on the server does not exceed 3 ms so i know it's not that

SQL IS virtual, but if I spin up a box without Citrix/RDS  they run EXTREMELY fast, so no issues with the configuration on SQL.

Messed with RDP settings and turned everything off in the Experience tab including font smoothing (which is what i thought was causing it at first)

Disabled AV on the citrix server and the sql box to eliminate from equation.

Have tried multiple NIC offload settings, disabled chimney/enabled chimney, rss, etc.

I am sure others have experienced this before. Any ideas? They start out really fast and then slow down a lot.

Just ran into the same issue and found a Solution / Work around.

    Saving Trial Balance report to screen and CSV (File size ~1 MB);

    = 40 minutes total. 4 pages/min on S drive (Citrix drive redirection).

= 25 seconds total. 285 pages/min on UNC Path to same share (as S drive)!

Suspect it is a compatibility issue with the application since it only occur when saving to a location via Citrix drive redirection. Using different Citrix receivers does not resolve the issue (yet).

Being 2017 I would think a solution would be available, but still looking.  Running Citrix 7.6 on Server 2012 R2 with Dynamics GP 2015.

    Peter -

I realize this is a fairly old post, but were you find a resolution to this?   We're running GP2015 in an RDS environment with 4 terminal servers (virtual) in a TS farm.   Over the past 48 hours we've had issues with trial balance reports (small ones) taking longer than normal to render.    Reports that were taking about 15 - 20 seconds to run are now taking 3.5 to 4 minutes to render.   I don't think this is a GP issue, but either an RDS or SQL Server issue.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks,

    Sean

    Trial Balance, etc.

    Any big report.

Posting is normal because they never get big enough for the server to "throttle" it. It seems to throttle after 100 pages or so. It didn't do that on the old 2003 environment / gp 10. I am certain it is something with RDS / Citrix based on they run fine from local clients / servers without RDS.

What reports are slow? Can you post some transactions and see if the posting time seems normal?

I don't think it's memory, I would give you a screenshot but I don't have anywhere to upload:

    Logical Disk

    -Avg. Disk sec/Read - 0.000

    - Avg. Disk sec/Write - 0.002

    Memory

    - Page Reads/sec - 0.00

    - Page Writes/sec - 0.00

    CPU 47%

    Memory 18%

    Ethernet S: 300 kbps Rcv 16.5Mbps

I am the only user on the server atm.

    Hi Peter,

It sounds like the terminal servers might be under provisioned. Can you allocate more RAM to them and see if the slowness persists?

    Regards,

    Kirk
