Purchase Order Amounts in Foreign Currency

(0) ShareShare

Hello,

Our company is US based and we purchase some product from Europe occasionally. When filling out Purchase Orders for the product we buy from Europe, we are required to enter the Amount field as Euro. We report in USD so the system converts the amount to USD and we end up with a discrepancy (that dumps in to an Exchange Rate Variance G/L Account) because our system conversion rate never matches the actual Euro > USD conversion. Is there a way to enter the amount in USD in the initial Purchase Order to avoid letting the system convert it? Or maybe linking our NAV server with an external currency exchange rate will prevent the discrepancy?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

RE: Purchase Order Amounts in Foreign Currency

It is a standard practice to have international orders, nominated in a currency which is different from your main currency. In order to have correct postings and correct currency exchange rate differences (which are inevitable due to daily fluctuations of exchange rates), you need to do one of the following:

    - either manually fill in the table with currency exchange rates of EUR to USD for every day when there is a transaction (preferably, for every day in general to avoid potential mistakes)

    - or, setup automated import of currency exchange rates that would run as a batch job e.g. every night and upload the rates automatically for each day.
