Set active business process flow from database

Posted on by 420

Is there a way to set the active business process flow by changing values in the database? I tried changing process id, stageid, traversedpath but none of those change the active business process flow. I can already do it through javascript or through SDK, but I need to do it via database. I am aware it might be unsupported.

What was the missing SQL step that you gleaned from profiler please?  I need to do the same thing and cant run via workflow because of the volume of records and the time it will take.

Marked both replies as answer since SQL Profiler allowed me to do it via SQL and your second answer is the best solution to my actual problem

As for me the easiest way for you is following:

    1. Create on-demand workflow that sets required active business process for you entity.

    2. Using KingsWay soft you can run workflow in bulk using "Run On-Demand Workflow" action.

If you're on Dynamics 365 you can change active process using OOB workflow action. If you're on earlier version of CRM following toolkit with correspond action can help you - github.com/.../releases

I'm using ssis + kingsway but I can't seem to choose the active business process flow when bulk inserting that way

    Hello,

The easiest way to do get correct query is to turn on SQL Profiler, initiate process change from CRM UI and get correspond query.

As you already mentioned this is unsupported so good luck doing that.

PS Just curious - why do you need that? Do you want to do that in bulk? If yes - you can design on-demand workflow that will do all the required work for you or SSIS package + KingsWay soft adapter for Dynamics CRM.
