Item Engineering Make or Buy code

Dear All,

I have a request to change Item Engineering for around 41K inventory items from Make to Make or Buy.  What is the best way to do this.  I was thinking to do through a Macro but also considering to do directly on table IVR10015.  But wanted to confirm whether its safe to do from the expertise. So the change doesn't affect any other tables.

    Good Morning Babu -

In my experience and opinion, the macro is always the preferred way of accomplishing these type tasks. However, to the best of my knowledge, the IVR10015 table is the only table storing the make/buy/either code as it pertains to manufacturing module.

Keep in mind - in older versions of GP - the item resource planning window was being used by MRP and the Item Engineering window by BOM entry and the two were not automatically synchronized.

I would experiment a little bit - change the make/buy code in Item Resource Planning - does it update Item Engineering? Try reverse? It's kind of been a peeve of mine that the Microsoft development team has left it up to end users to experiment and determine functionality - rather than simply make system a bit more intuitive......

Good Luck let us know how it turns out.......

    Good Morning Bron,

I tested this and the changes made in Item Resource Planning doesn't have any impact on Item Engineering and vice versa so I took a backup of table and changed this on table level.  Thanks again.
