Accounts & Competitors - can they be linked or moved?

We've recently moved to Dynamics and have all our competitors added as "Accounts".  Is there an easy way to transfer them all or link them to the "Competitor" entity?

    Hi,

you could export them to worksheet and then import them to the competitor entity.

When done you could deactivate or delete these accounts?

What exactly do you mean with link to competitor entity? You would anyway have to setup the competitors to link them to an account.

Linking can be done by adding a lookup field, or using connections.

    Hi Tsambo

Please remember that Competitors does not hold the traditional Account information, Because Most businesses don't have a relationship with the contacts of their competitors. It is more focused on their Product or service Strengths and weaknesses and Tracking your Opportunities against them to identify your competitors areas of strengths and weaknesses. So you could import your competitor accounts into the competitor entity, but you will need to customise it further if you have a lot of data. Or you could simply add a N:1 relation lookup from the competitor entity to the Competitor Accounts to link them so that the comptitors are still tracked against the correct account, its really down to preferences.

I hope this answers you question :)

    Kindly Verify, Yours sincerely, Raz

It looks like the easiest thing for us to do is create a relationship between accounts and competitors, that way we can store contact info etc in accounts and monitor their activities in competitors. Thanks for your help!
