Hello there,

I have been experiencing problems when during CRM 2013 install on Windows server 2008 R2 SP1.

Installation failed due to below error outlog:

SQLexception during install CRM config db action. Cannot perform this action when SQLServer agent is starting. Try again later.

I came across a Microsoft support forum post saying DTC transaction fails when Sql server is running is fiber mode (light weight pooling). when I checked the sql server properties -> Processers, Use windows fiber mode option is unchecked.

Any help with this is very much appreciated! Thank you very much for helping with this.

Thank you, Sheik

DTC problem mainly causes for port or firewall block, check your port/firewall.

    Dear mn_mak,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I checked allowable programs through windows firewall and noticed DTC unchecked. I checked it, restarted and tried installing CRM 2013 again. No luck this time around! Please find the failure screenshot below.

Any help further would be appreciated.

    Thanks for help,

    Sheik

it is more generic exception,  look at both crm/db server  event viewer, may be you will get some idea about the exception.

    1)Enable Remote connections

a)Right-click on the SQL Server Management Studio (instance) -> select "Properties" from the menu - > Select "Connections" -> Enable check box "Allow remote connections to this server". -> Restart the instance.

b)optional Right-click on the SQL Server Management Studio -> select "Facets" from the menu - > Select "Surface Area Configuration" from the Facet drop down -> RemoteDacEnabled to True

2)Use a domain account as a service account.

    3) Create a firewall exception for the SQL Server instance and port

(Windows Server 2008 R2) Control Panel -> Windows Firwall -> Advanced Settings -> Select Inbound Rules -> Action menu -> select New Rule -> Select Custom -> Add the sqlservr.exe (program path)  and TCP protocal type, port (default is 1433)

4)Check SQL server services(SQL Server ,SQLBrowser,..) is up and running properly

5)Run "sqlcmd -L", check your server is included in your network list.

6)Enable TCP/IP in sql server configuration

    7)SQL server connectivity

    Run > cmd

    •netstat -ano| findstr 1433

    •telnet SQLSERVER_NAME_OR_IP_ADDRESS 1433

    •ping -a SQLSERVER_NAME_OR_IP_ADDRESS

I am sure there is a firewall/port  issue in  your configuration

    Dear Mohideen,

Thanks for your suggestions. Tried all the steps except using domain account as service account. Used Network service account for Sql service. Problem still persists!

On 3rd section what you have mentioned, I did create only firewall inbound rule for only port. Do you think if i try to do so for sql instance also, problem goes away?

    3) Create a firewall exception for the SQL Server instance and port

(Windows Server 2008 R2) Control Panel -> Windows Firwall -> Advanced Settings -> Select Inbound Rules -> Action menu -> select New Rule -> Select Custom -> Add the sqlservr.exe (program path)  and TCP protocal type, port (default is 1433)

I am not sure what else is causing this! Please help.

    Best,

    Sheik

Look like your  "Use Windows fibers(lightwight pooling" may cause this error.

i am not sure why do you enabled this setting, it is one of dangerous in sql server.

some ms kb article will help you?
