GP 2010 R2 SQL Report Error: You do not have security access to the location where you want the reports to be deployed

Hello,

I'm trying to deploy the standard gp reports to SQL Server Reporting Services Server in Native Mode. But it keeps giving the error: "You do not have security access to the location where you want the reports to be deployed"

I have a virtual machine with Win 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 Express Ed., GP 2010 R2.
I granted all access to the administrator and domain users via Management reporter.
I tryed running GP as administrator connected also as administrator user and also connected as other domain users with no luck.

Could anyone provide some help on this issue?

Thank you.

JC

Management Reporter is nothing to do with the SSRS reports. This uses SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS); is SSRS installed and configured correctly?

It is installed as part of the SQL Server installation and can be configured during install with default settings or set to be configured later. If it is reporting as installed can you navigate to the report manager website (which is also where you maintain security for SSRS reports)?

I apologize. Instead of management reporter, I meant to say the Report manager website.

SSRS was installed as part of the SQL server installation and is working fine. I can navigate, grant privileges, create folders, sources and upload files.

    GeC,

Are you running Dynamics GP with the same user that you are accessing the reports manager website?

Another thing to try would be right-clicking GP and choosing "Run as administrator" when you launch.  After launching, try to deploy the srs reports again.

    Thanks

    Rob,

I ended up opening an issue in partnersource. The answer from Microsoft is that the reports deployment to reporting services is not supported on sql server express edition.

So they recommend using sql standard or enterprise ed.

    Thanks anyway,

    GeC.

    Hi GeC,

That should have been pretty obvious, because you can't install SSRS on a SQL Express version as far as I know... SSRS has to be installed and configured prior to the deployment of the GP SQL reports, and than you need to decide if you're going to install it in 'native' mode or published mode (on a SharePoint 2007 or 2010 integration).

I know it sound silly because SQL Express is supported to deploy Dynamics GP, but nevertheless it's not really a recommended platform due to the limited management tools and functions (i.e. no Agent for automated process and maintenance plans).

I am having the same issue that started this thread.  But SSRS is installed and working and I can get into Report Manager, etc.  The SQL Standard Edition is deployed so it's not a SQL Express issue.

Can you tell me if the GP Deployment of SSRS reports will work on a SQL 2000 Standard Edition.

    Michael,

What version of Dynamics GP are you using?  Dynamics GP 2010 is compatible with SQL 2005 and 2008.  More specifics on this can be found here:  mbs.microsoft.com/.../mdgp2010_system_requirements.htm.

System requirements for other versions of Dynamics GP can also be found on Customer Source.

    Thanks

We are deployed as GP 2010 R2 - Latest service pack.  The GP database is running on CUISQL with SQL 2005.  There is no GP client on the CUISQL box.

GP client is deployed on CUIRPT and is using a SQL Native ODBC connection and is working fine.

GP client is also deployed on two individual workstations and is working fine as well.

We are trying to deploy the GP SSRS reports onto the CUIRPT server which (at this point) appears to have BOTH SQL 2000 AND SQL 2005 deployed.  When we open SQL 2005 SQL Management Studio the Select @@version reports back as SQL 2000.

But the company has SSRS running on CUISQL already for two other purposes and I have every security known to man on the CUIRPT server.  We just can't get DYNAMIC GP SRS Reports to deploy on the CUIRPT box into the existing URL's.  I can access the URL's and have the max Site Manager and Content Manager permissions.  I can see and run all the reports on the other two deployed reporting (non-GP) solutions.

I could be getting a bogus message about security to a 'location' when the real issue is the GP SRS deployment 'seeing' SQL 2000 but we don't know how to 'trick' the system into 'seeing' SQL 2005 when we deploy.

We are now casting about to gain consensus from the company and two other non-GP application groups that SQL 2000 may not need to be deployed at all on CUIRPT as we do not see ANY databases when we run the SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager.  The next plan is to remove SQL 2000 on CUIRPT and run the latest service pack on SQL 2005 and give it another try.
