Changing dimension on posted documents

Hello,

because of business reasons from finance controlling department, we need to change a dimension on posted documents (purchase invoices, sales invoices, general journals etc.) that will reflect the general ledger entries (but also customer entries etc.)

What is the best way to do it. We need to change to 100+ documents, manually, through web or excel or something. to fix entries to correct cost centers etc.

We do not want to post the credit memos / returns and post again correct info.

This reflects the reporting (in Power BI) and management report.

We use BC 20.2 SaaS and I see that there is a new feature on General Ledger Entries - "Dimension Correction", but this will not affect the documents, customer ledger entries. This feature is also slow and hard to modify. Is there a better way to do it in batches? maybe using API ? (over Power Automate or custom app?)

Thank you,

Kind regards

    Hi

You can use correcting dimension on posted entries

    docs.microsoft.com/.../4a-correct-dimensions-posted-entries

    docs.microsoft.com/.../finance-troubleshooting-correcting-dimensions

Thank you for the fast response and link to documentation.

This works for G/L Entries, but it does not work for "Customer ledger entries" nor on Document, or Item level.

as it says in documentation on your link:

    > The features for correcting dimensions are intended only to help make financial reporting accurate. Dimension corrections apply only to the G/L entries. They do not change the dimensions assigned to the entries in other ledgers for the same transaction. There will be a mismatch between the dimensions assigned in the general ledger and the sub-ledgers.

Can we somehow change on whole posted document level and related entries, maybe through one API call ?

Yes , It will not change the Dimension of all the entries.

As this is related to Dimension and Dimension is Heart of the MIS reports this would be a trick change.

You probably need to add custom functionality to do it, and I would recommend to take expert to do this, as this will impact the Dimension set entry Table which is tricky.

    Hi

I only know one app that does the exact action. But this is not supported by Microsoft base action and you need 3rd party app or development.

    See this app   appsource.microsoft.com/.../PUBID.dynamicsnavaddon|AID.dimensionmanager|PAPPID.93678dd0-af16-46ec-a58b-a89808fba8f7
