Printing 2 Copies of Receipt

Posted on by 125

Hi there,

I'm trying to print two copies of receipts each time a sale is completed. I've tried changing my receipt template's "Receipt Count" line to 2 from within SO Manager.

I'm also comfortable editing the XML template files directly and have tried changing the Receipt Count to 2 from there. Doing this, it does change to 2 from within SO Manager, but using either of these methods has no effect when I print receipts -- it's always just 1.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is it possible that my receipt printer (Epson T20, setup with Windows driver) is doing something to prevent the second receipt? If properly configured, will the journal show back-to-back receipts accordingly?

Thanks!

NOTE: Please ensure that the printer you are using currently has to be set as a default printer.

    1. Open CONTROL PANEL.

    2. On HARDWARE AND SOUND, click VIEW DEVICES AND PRINTERS.

    3. Right-click on the current/default printer the system is using and click PRINTING PREFERENCES.

    4. Depending on the environment of the printer’s window, locate the NUMBER OF COPIES or COPIES and indicate the number of documents you want the printer to print.

    5. Open STORE OPERATIONS MANAGER.

    6. On JOURNAL MENU, click VIEW.

    7. Double-click to select the receipt you want to print.

    8. On the journal view window, click PRINT button.

    9. As long as you have set the printer to default and number of copies specified, lick OK button.

You can also do this on the POS. Click the Journal Button and follow steps 7-9.

    Hey all,

Epson informed me that there shouldn't be a limitation on the number of copies printed.

Turns out, through the myriad of (often redundant) Windows printer settings, there is one found by right-clicking the printer, then Printer Properties->Advanced->Enable advanced printing features that needed to be checked off.

Not sure how printing multiple copies qualifies as an advanced feature, but it's defaulted to not checked for the TM-T20II in any case. Checked that and having no issues now.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Hey there,

Thanks for the suggestions. Having set the RMS printer to my inkjet, I can confirm that RMS is attempting to print 2 copies, so it's definitely on the Epson side.

I've looked around, and while there is an OPOS ADK available for this printer, I haven't seen any OPOS drivers to test.

Really hoping that Epson isn't pulling something like this -- of course I can always reprint, but is a low blow to implement a clearly unnecessary restriction. I've contacted Epson and will report back with what I hear.

    Thanks!

Forgot to mention the journal will only show 1 copy regardless.

Have you tried the OPOS driver? That will also provide you with separate control over the cash drawer if the TM20II model supports OPOS drivers.

Based on your latest tests it seems Epson purposely reduced the feature set on their low-end thermal printer. Their website mentions the model is for low volume use only, but limiting to 1 copy sounds a bit crazy.

You can test RMS with the MS XPS driver or a PDF driver to confirm the output sent is 2 copies. If so, Epson did indeed limit the TM-T20II printer to 1 copy at a time.

Shift-F11 should get around that limitation.

    Hey,

I've tried clearing everything out, reloading, deleting the format profile and recreating using both my custom format and the default to no avail.

I am starting to think this may have to do with the Epson TM-T20II printer that I'm using, however. I just tried printing from my web browser to the receipt printer. In the Window print dialogue, I tried to change the Copies field to 2 and got the error message: "This printer cannot support this many copies. Number of copies will be set to printer maximum of 1."

I can't imagine why a printer would be configured to not allow two copies to be printed at once (since it's essentially the same as issuing the print command twice). Does anyone have any ideas on this?

    Thanks so much!

    Adrian

Did you restart the POS after changing your template?  Did you make sure to save on both receipt template screens?

Try Manager, Database, Registers, Register List, select the register, Properties, Receipt Printer 1, clear the template in use, load the template you edited, save changes, close POS and go back in. Now test a receipt.

If that does not work create a new template using the default template provided with RMS and perform same test with that template.
