dynamics upgrade

We are attempting to upgrade our Solomon (current version is 6.00.2272 (6.0 SP1) of Solomon Professional) to Dynamics SL 7.0. This upgrade will also include moving Solomon databases to sql 2005. Our sql 2005 server is Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (SP2) 64 bit. The server Dynamics will be installed on (moving it to a new server) is Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition (SP2) 34 bit.

When I install the client on a user's computer (it is a brand new computer, so no old version to take off), I get an error in the dialog box to connect to the database.  This is the initial dialog box you get when first opening up Dynamics SL, says select a company, so I click on button that says 'Find Database'. I then select the sql server, and select the solomon system database.  When I click on OK, I get a signon.exe error.  That says signon.exe has encountered an error and has to close.   In the event viewer I do see a .NET framework 2.0 error also.

The weird thing about this is if I log onto this computer, and launch Dynamics w/ my account, it all works fine.

I am a domain admin, but I assume all our users do not need to be domain admins.

Any suggestions on where to look?

Thanks

Are you using Windows authentication security model? If so, Make sure the Windows domain user is associated with the proper Dynamics SL user ID in the Domain\Username format.

Also, what service pack are you running on 7.0?

nops, SL has its own users. The error is when choosing database BEFORE u get the chance to log in :( SL 7.0 SP1

I believe there is an automatic update that installs .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 that causes this.

There is a Hotfix for 7.0 SP1 that addresses this issue. Do you have access to CustomerSource or are you currently working with a Partner?

Ruben,  Were you ever able to resolve it?  I am having this problem, and have installed Dynamice SL 7.0 Service Pack 2, which I believe fixes the issue that SP 1 hotfix fixes.  Does anyone know for sure if that's true.

Weirdly it's not the computer, anyone else can log onto this computer and get into Dynamics fine, but this user account just gets that signon.exe error.

i have not been able to fix it.

it is very weird, we're considering trying out with FP1 to see if it solves it, but im not convinced, please let me know any changes! i will too
