Mail Merge/Word response time slow (Outlook Client only)

Hi All,

I searched to see if anyone else had encountered this issue but so far I can't find anything:

Over the past little while, I've had users complaining that the mail merge function is slow and that word will often "hang" once the "Finish and Merge" button has been clicked.  No error is reported, and the merge will eventually complete but is taking close to a minute to return control.

It seems to be only when the outlook client is used to initially open the quote up.  If the user does the quote via the web version, there are no issues at all, control returned almost immediately.

The environment is as follows:

Dynamics CRM 2011 On Premise Deployment- Server on RU11 (purposely)

Office 2010 Professional (outlook and word)

Dynamics CRM outlook client (RU versions seem to differ from user to user, but typically RU 17 - no one below 11).

Part of me believes that it's more of a Word/Macro issue rather than a CRM issue, but that's only suspicion more than anything.

Has anyone encountered this sort of behavior before?  I appreciate any responses.

    All,

    Still running this problem down...

    I'm noticing that in Clients that have RU 17 installed that the "Create Activities" window never appears.  Is this by design?  Was it removed?

    If I re-install the client, I can get the Window to re-appear, but as soon as RU 17 is automatically installed, it goes away, and my mail merge from the outlook client returns to being slow.
