Consolidate records in views within Dynamics CRM

I am new to Dynamics CRM 2016.  I have also inherited the responsibility of managing the system for our small company.  In designing the system our outside consultants created accounts with account ids that have a seven digit number then a - then a four digit location code to account for customers with multiple locations.   This is fine to identify specific locations however when our sales team views accounts, the same account shows up multiple times (once for each location).  This is not helpful for them and I do not know how to consolidate views so that only one record appears in views for each account.  Is there a way to consolidate accounts in the views within entities?   I greatly appreciate any solutions you may have to offer.

    Hi Gene GSB,

    Welcome to DynamicsCRM!

From what I understand, there are multiple account records created with different account Ids.

Every record created in CRM is automatically assigned a GUID, which is how the system keeps a track of it. In your case, there might be 10 accounts with the name 'Gene's Honest Company', but in the end, there are 10 different records with 10 different GUIDs.

There is no way to consolidate views based on columns. I know that sounds like a helpful function. But unfortunately, you cannot do that.

What you can instead do is to activate 'Editable Grids'. Editable grids have a default grouping which you can leverage.

In the screenshot above, I enabled Editable grids for Contacts and am grouping the Contacts based on the 'Company Name'. In your case, you would need to enable Editable Grids control for Accounts and group them by the 'Name'.

But as the name suggests, these are editable grids and different in behavior from the normal read-only grids.

Thank you very much for the quick response and workable solution.   I will look into editable grids as you suggested.
