Cannot add a new user to CRM tenant.

I have a specific tenant on a dynamics CRM server, where I cannot add myself as a user. I can add myself to other tenants of the same CRM server without issue, but this tenant claims I already exist. I'm not on the enabled or disabled list, and more interestingly, I started looking at the SystemUserId table of the tenant in question and my username isn't listed there either. The MS CRM Config database didn't seem to yield any more clues. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Is your user a System Administrator on the CRM deployment? Also, did you tried to select the tenant is question as the default organization, I already solve a tenant issue by selecting the organization as the default one...

Hello, yes I'm currently logged in as the MS CRM Admin, trying to add my normal network login account to that Tenant. The tenant already is the default.

... another question: Did you tried to restore a database this was on the same deployment under another name, or is that a new Organization?

We did recently drop the database and revert to an earlier version, reimporting the customization file after the switch.

That could be the problem, check the MSCRM_CONFIG database to see in the systemuserorganizations table contains the username for the given organization. If so, delete it, and you should be able to re-add the user to the organization.

PS. I don't know if this is supported (I think it is when it is only touching the MSCRM_CONFIG database)

Interestingly, the MSCRM_CONFIG does not contain the username, although it seemingly contains all the other ones. I guess what I don't understand is if MS CRM checks this table to determine existing users, and there is no row with my information, what else is it checking to disallow me to make that account? I found an article where it mentions there are three tables checked via the stored procedure, is it possible that there is a row with the GUID my account used to have that still exists in one of the other two tables? Update: I just noticed that SystemUserAuthentication contains 53 rows, but SystemUserOrganizations contains 60. I know that CRM accounts are considered null with 0's for their guid, and we have a few tenants, but should these numbers be the same?

I think that there is some ids left behind, that were added using the previous database, and that are not in the restored database. So I would check all the tables in MSCRM_Config to validate the the username, user id (guid) and SID is not in other table...

Last resort, a support call to Microsoft, or talk to your CRM implementation partner to have onsite/remote support for diagnostics.

Thankyou for pointing me in the right direction, haven't resolved the issue yet but I feel like I at least gained some understanding of this problem to continue on my own. Out of curiously, do you know of any good articles on how to rollback a CRM tenant without affecting other tenants on the same installation of CRM. Thanks again.

I found my sid viewer ad explorer, found it in the table, deleted it, now I can make an account for myself. Nice!

To rollback you can take a look at the Implementation Guide. But my feeling is that it should be as simple as deleting the organization using the deployment manager, overwriting the database, and re-importing the organization. The step you missed is to delete the organization, this step is not actually deleting the database, only the reference to it in the MSCRM_Config database.

    Enjoy!
