DIXF error while preview memo field

Hi

We upgraded to SQL 2016, therefore SSIS and DIXF service was upgraded correctly.

Previewing a file is possible except it has a memo field. First the DMF Datatype VarString was added to the DMFDataTypeMapping.xml Ressource file and the mapping could be generated. But starting souce file preview crashes the DIXF service with the error below. Must this type be registered elsewhere?

System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to ch10sv177/.../DMFServiceHelper.svc. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

As mentioned the DIXF service crashes, means you have to restart. Done also on SSIS service.

Why install DIXF new? Everithing works fine, except the memo field.

What versions of AX and SQL are you running precicely?

There have been a few updates to get all components fully compatible again. Even the kernel of R3 CU13 still had some issues.

You might need to update your binaries to the latest version.

    Hi Rik

    AX2012R2CU9, SQL 2016 (SSIS 13.0.40001.0), Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.DMF.SSISHelperService.exe has 6.2.3000.110

According docs.microsoft.com/.../install-dixf the service was installed from CU7 msi and updated by KB3184923 msp. If we run a more actual kernel, the setup does not recognize the installed service: "Update applicability: The selected component is not installed on this computer." What could be the reason?

    Thanks

    Jan

Have you installed the following fix to make CU9 SQL 2016 compatible? KB3184754:

    support.microsoft.com/.../can-t-install-reporting-extension-on-sql-server-2016-for-microsoft-dyn

If the updater doesn't recognise the component just remove it and reinstall. I have seen the installer failing to update components before.

After deinstalling / installing DIXF service we could upgrade to 6.2.3000.4945, the error still exists.

No that KB was not installed. Why it relates to DIXF as it has to do with reporting extensions?

It should't but it would have updated your installer to the latest version. It might have cumulatively fixed detecting the old dixf component. But just reinstalling the component worked.

Just to make shure, you did't just update the DIXF server component but allso the AOS, your client and the client DIXF components?

A bit of a long shot, but it might just help. Under your inbound ports there should be 3 services for DIXF. Could you deactivate and reactivate them?
