SDT: Standard Mode Security Role assignment keeps pompting at login

Posted on by 20

Hi Community;

I am running into a issue which I am having trouble finding a resolution to.  Everytime I log into GP 2010 SP3 within a new installation Support Debugging Tool continues to pompt the creation/assignment of the Standard Mode Security Role.  Whether I answer Yes or No it continues to pop up.  I have confirmed that I am under Build 16 and tried reinstalling but it keeps coming up.  This issue did not occur initially.  In fact it standard right after I created new users in the system.  initially all users are POWERUSERS since this is a brand new installation and security has not been defined yet.

I tried troubleshooting this and setup a test user with only access to AP Clerk, AR Clerk, and Bookkeeping.  This ended up clearing up the issue for now but seems more like a bandaid until security is defined.  Does Support Debugging Tool require that at least one non power users exists in order to avoid a prompt to assign the standard mode security every time on login.

Thanks;

Patrick

    Hi Patrick

    When you say "Yes" to the "Do you want to add Support Debugging Tool Standard Mode Security Role (MBS DEBUGGER USER) to all users?" question the tool will add the MBS DEBUGGER USER role to all non POWERUSER users.  Which in your case was none of them and the same result as selecting "No".

    The system is looking for the MBS DEBUGGER USER role to be assigned to at least one user, then it will stop prompting.  You can add this role to a user which is already a POWERUSER rather than create a test user.

    This approach has worked well (until now) as it is very unusual to have a system where everyone is a POWERUSER.

    I will add a check to see if there are any users that are not a POWERUSER before prompting, so that this issue will not occur in future.
