Put locations is blank in Work line

Hi ALL

I have set up every single thing related to Locations, Location profiles, Work template and Location direction. Once I click on "Release to Warehouse" button on the Sales order - Load, Shipment, Wave and Work get created successfully.

When I look at the Work lines that were generated, I could see that the locations for Put operations are blank.

Please tell me what I am missing here

    Hi Ronen,

Can you share setup screenshots, especially Location directives for Put work type and what have you set in the Edit query in the Location directive section and in the Location directive action section? I am thinking that you have limited it by some restrictions.  Please take a look on these forms in details.

    Hi Ronen Rahav,

Make sure that the location profile of the location on which you are having the inventory for the item is selected in the location directive actions edit query.

Also make sure if you have more than one item in the sales order line then you should have two put location directives one with multiple SKU checked and one without multiple SKU checked.

Kindly share the screenshot of the location directive if this does not helps you.

    Hi Ronen,

I am assuming that AX cannot find the location where you have the inventory. Again, you need to check Location directive for Pick work type. Please share the screenshot of the location directive if this does not helps you.

    Hi Galyna,

According to your answer i understand that AX should find location with inventory. i thought that location appeared according work template setup.

    Hi Ronen Rahav,

As Galyna rightly suggested you now need to check the location profile of the location where inventory is there and make sure the location profile is selected in the "pick work type location directive actions query.

To pick and put items we need two locations directive one for "pick" work type and another for "put" work type. They will let AX know where to pick inventory from and where to put.

Work template are not used for identifying locations but to define the structure of the work steps. Like pick and put is a normal combination but some business can have a work template as pick, print and then put so how many steps will be there in the work is controlled by work template.

    Hi Sagar,

I am afraid that the real problem is reservation.

I saw in "Work creation history log" form message : Item 10001 allocation failed.

    Do you have any idea?

    Hi Ronen,

Even this error might be due to wrong location directive setup.

    Hi Ronen Rahav,

Remember reservation is the first step to warehousing and there can be no work started in AX till you have reservation done however having reservation done and finding the pick location are two different things.

Check your sales order and you will find in the transactions as reserved physical. The reason why you are not getting a pick locations is issue with you location directive setup and that too for the pick one.

Another thing is that you have allowed AX to create work despite location directive failing to find a pick location as you have kept the "stop work on location directives failures" unchecked for sales orders and this tells AX to go ahead and create a work if pick and put locations are not determined and AX creates a work with blank locations.

Worker has to determine the location manually and input in the mobile device.

Check you location directive setup again and the location where the stock is there should have its profile added in the query. Do share screenshots for allowing us to dig deeper.
