Using MS FLOW to send emails from CRM

Hi,

I need to use MS Flow to send out emails using CRM. Basically create an email activity and send that email from CRM and not FLOW. Is there any way to achieve this without using CRM Web API?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Vincent,  This works. however the apparent sender address is  generic Microsoft address, not the actual flow owner / responsible party.

In Power Automate you can Create an e-mail using the "Create a new record" action for the connector "Common Data Service (current environment)"

To sent an e-mail you should use the action "Perform bound action" for the connector "Common Data Service (current environment)"

I hope this is an answer to your question?
    Good luck

    Best regards

RE: Using MS FLOW to send emails from CRM

Hello Poornesh, Thanks for the follow up.

The MS Flow triggers correctly and the email is sent correctly. No errors occur. The client receives an email from an unknown sender. Not me. The unknown sender appears as

    Unknown-sender-email.jpg

The Problem occurs when the recipient ignores the email because the sender is not recognized.

    Thanks, Gary

RE: Using MS FLOW to send emails from CRM

    1. Create an Email Message record in CRM, with all the details filled in (From, To, Subject, etc.). Create it in Draft Status.

You can access the Error Message from previous step(if that is the case), by using actions('Activity_name').outputs.body.error.message

    2. In the next step, add an action 'Perform a bound action'. Select entity name as Email Messages, choose the Action Name as SendEmail. Item ID is the reference of Email Message record, created in previous step

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Poornesh Y H

    HI,

I use a field  change to trigger sending an email. However Unable to track - Sent from is NOT me, rather a generic Microsoft account

RE: Using MS FLOW to send emails from CRM

    Hello Kokulan,

How can I trigger send email from MS Flow?

I have a Dynamics workflow which is creating the email contain and sending it as well.

This Workflow triggered on a change of a particular field and its running in Background mode (screenshot attached).

    pastedimage1576236412504v1.png

I want to do the same thing with Flow.

    pastedimage1576236531578v2.png

I can create a new Email Message Record. But I dont find Action to Send Email.

However I can send email using Outlook O365 Connector but then it will not be tracked in the Dynamics Custome Entity. As I cannot set "Regarding" in O365 email connector.

Please let me know if this is at all possible to send an email using FLOW upon change a field in Dynamics Record(Custom Entity) and track the email Dynamics (Set Regarding to the Custom Entity.)

RE: Using MS FLOW to send emails from CRM

Using flow to send email after trigger event happens in CRM (date field updated) Not able to have my email shown as sender. Sender is always listed as Microsoft PowerApps and Flow <microsoft@powerapps.com>.

Not professional! Recipients don't recognize sender. Unlikely to open message.

    Any thoughts?

RE: Using MS FLOW to send emails from CRM

    Hi,

I achieved the similar use case of creating email activities for any incoming email onto shared mailbox using MS FLow.

However, the email content from incoming email that I'm mapping as Activitiy's description is not parsed. it all comes in one single line

“Let me know on any Updates. Thanks Much. Regards, ABC”

when instead actual mail looked like this::

“Let me know on any Updates.

    Thanks Much.

    Regards,

    ABC”

How can we retain this ? Any suggestions

RE: Using MS FLOW to send emails from CRM

    Hi Nitin

You could consider the following option.

In your Flow use the Dynamics 365 Connector and create an Email activity with all the content filled in. In CRM have a workflow that triggers on Email Create and Sends the email for you.

You may have to add a flag field to email entity in CRM to flag the email activity was created from Flow.

You may also have to use other actions Like List Record or Get Record to set the From / To / Regarding fields when creating the email activity from Flow

Let us know if you need further guidance on this.
