Compatibility with JPEG Image format

Hi,

We have a requirement to print bar code image in one of the Invoice reports. The image comes in the form of JPEG format. And when explored, we found NAV is supports only BMP and not any other format. We are not sure if we can convert the image format from JPEG to BMP as we fear image corruption which is definitely not appreciated for bar code especially. Can you suggest any method to implement our requirement?

  This is our NAV version.

I would suggest using barcode fonts, but it then needs to be installed on every machine that will use it.

You can also search Mibuso download sections for creating barcodes directly from code.

www.mibuso.com/searchdl.asp  enter "Barcodes" & click search. (Best Method)

Last way if converting on the fly:

If I understand correctly, your barcode image is comming from external source, right? In that case, converting it to BMP seems to be the best option. I don't think you should fear barcode corruption, as JPEG is not a a suitable format for barcodes in the first place.

Or, if you can move barcode creation to NAV side, you should look through the options that Savatage has suggested.

Yes you are right. We get image from external system. And thanks for your input. I will go with the current method of converting the image to BMP. We also tried what Savatage suggested, but we had trouble in getting the numeric format of Bar code from external system. The external team were not co-operating much. So I think for now, we will stick on to conversion method.

    Thank you both for inputs.

Definitely opt for conversion to BMP. The problem might be that you should provision enough disk space XDDD

    Good luck Rohini!

Thank you Miguel. Ya space is a definite compromise. Will take care of it. Thanks again :)

Converting JPEG to BMP could be a solution, but there's a concern about image quality loss or corruption, which is critical for barcode readability. It's advisable to explore a reliable image conversion method that maintains image integrity.
