Is it possible to customize the Shopify extension since the source code is available in GitHub? If so, would it have to be uploaded as a different extension or can changes be made to a few files and updated?
You will have to extend the existing connector so basically you will put your extension on top of the existing one. So you build you own app that needs to be deployed. But it will have a dependency to the standard shopify connector.
The documentation says that the Shopify Connector (Default Shopify in BC) is not extensible but is open for contributions. Does that conflict with extending the connector or is that different?
That it is open for contribution means that Microsoft is publishing the source code for it on Github and you can branch it and create a pull request that Microsoft will evaluate.
