Window appears to change to Windows Classic in Terminal Services session on GP 2010

Posted on by 125

We are running GP2010 over remote desktop services (windows 2008 R2), and recently we have a couple of users who have reported that the way the login window displays has changed and some of the field entry boxes have changed from white to grey.  If you look at the screenshots attached the correct one (1st image) looks like a windows 7/xp box and the incorrect one (2nd image) looks like a windows classic box - has anyone else experienced this at all and knows what causes it?

I have this problem too, but with the windows when choosing a data list, and I have it on several PCs with different windows.

I have to agree with Mahmoud and Charles on this one. Those windows do care about what the OS settings/Themes are. If they didn't then you wouldn't be seeing this issue because the windows would be controlled by say Dex instead of working with the OS.

I have seen such cases with Remote Desktop and roaming profile. Most of the times it was related to manipulating the themes.

Have you tried the solution provided above by Charles to reset the user profiles ? It could be possible in a remote desktop connection.

    Your feedback is highly appreciated,

If this is for only a couple users, and they use roaming profiles, I would suggest resetting those profiles.  Is GP a published application?  Is 'Windows Desktop Experience' installed on the server?

    Hi Mahmoud

I know this but this is not the cause - the theme style has changed from the 1st screen to the 2nd screen without any intervention or different operating system theme and the only way to get them back is to delete the user's profile so nothing to do with OS or user changing theme - this is why I posted on here.

    Thanks

    Hello Sukes

The screens of Dynamics GP are simply changed according to the operating system theme, look how  it would be with windows 8.1

Try to change the windows theme and see what the impact is accordingly.

    Your feedback is highly appreciated,
