Creating a view of a table in another database but on the same server as current instance

Hi all

In our Dynamix Ax 2012 environment, i have a form which ideally needs to display data from a datasource (table/view?) which is located in another SQL database. This database is located on the same server as the database for the Ax instance. I was hoping to create a view in Ax which would point to the relevant table in the other database. Does anyone know if this is possible in Ax or if some sort of relationship needs to be setup in SQL server management studio regarding communication between the two databases?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
