Remote Assist HoloLens Video Quality

Does anyone have any advice for improving the video feed quality when using Remote Assist with a HoloLens 2?  We are using a dedicated Verizon hot spot, and only connecting the HoloLens 2 to the hot spot, but the video can be very grainy in a manufacturing environment.  We are not deep in the factory (close to en exterior wall), so we should be getting good signal.  And I am having the user carry the hot spot in his back pocket.

    Thank you for your question, and for sharing this concern.

    We need to confirm first that there is no problem with the camera, this can be by user confirmation or by checking the HoloLens device via the Device Portal:

    Since the camera feed will adapt resolution to the network signal quality, so please make sure that the network requirements below are met:

    Network requirements for Remote Assist:

    For Teams (the other side of a Remote Assist call):

    docs.microsoft.com/.../prepare-network

    You can also test with different hotspots to see if this would affect the quality.

    If after checking your network you still believe the quality shouldn't be like that then you can raise a Support Ticket with Microsoft so that the team can check this further with you.

    Certain verizon plans are subject to deprioritization and network management after threshold of GB usage;; after that is 600Kbps (abysmal).

    AT&T has a Business Unlimited Elite plan which avoids deprioritization for non-hotspotted clients.

    Pair this unlimited elite plan with a ZTE dongle which attaches via USB ethernet to the hololens 2?

    Maybe this can work well

    Windows Holographic version 2004 adds support for 4G/5G USB dongles, maybe the ZTE dongle can be paired with AT&T Business Unlimited Elite for high-priority data. (QCI 6)

    AT&T Business Unlimited Elite uses QCI 6

    AT&T Business Unlimited Performance uses QCI 8 and does not have higher priority just like most non-entry level unlimited and tiered-data plans.

    AT&T Business Unlimited Starter uses QCI 9 so it is deprioritized from the beginning.

    Xfinity Mobile uses the same priority as Verizon postpaid, both use QCI 8.

    DJ, we are using Remote Assist in a manufacturing in environment and we tested both WIFI & Cellular hotspot in the factory. The cellular was spotty (AT&T) meaning when it was Great it was great but if it was bad it was just bad. We had to issues with cellular (1) we doubted the consistency of AT&T and (2) we other machine generated interference in the factory. What we ended up doing was running dedicated WIFI nodes to stations and areas we wanted to have remote access to. FYI this testing was in late 2019 so it was all 4G testing. When 5G gets to broader coverage in say 12-14 months we will probably reevaluate again.
