I was asked to install MR 2012 onto a 64 bit W2008 R2 server. I did not get very far as the configuration tool immediately informed me that the version of Excel on this server was 32 bit and 64 bit Excel is required. Is there any way around this requirement? If not, my only two choices are to get them to install 64 bit Excel on this server or to find me a 32 bit server upon which I can install MR 2012 and then point this to the 64 bit server containing the GP data.

This is a terminal server and they had 32 bit Excel installed so the installation is not able to continue. However, I did find KB 2544472 which provides a work around. I installed Access 64 from the command prompt by typing AccessDataBaseEngine_x64.exe /passive. This bypassed the Excel check and gets 64 bit Access installed.

Excel isn't a prerequisite for MR installation. Is this error message perhaps due to you not having another prerequisite Office component in place - the MS Access 2010 engine redistributable (comes in x86 and x64 versions)?
