Best practice for handling multi-language product descriptions in Dynamics 365

Hi everyone,

We are managing products that require descriptions in multiple languages for different markets. We are primarily based in Germany but work with the US as well. What is the recommended approach in Dynamics 365 to handle multilingual product descriptions efficiently? Should we rely on product translations only or create custom fields or entities? How do you manage updates to ensure consistency across languages? Are there any performance or reporting considerations to keep in mind?

I would appreciate insight from anyone who has implemented this in a real production environment.

Thanks very much

Hi, the standard functionality already handles this scenario very well. Using product translations for multilingual names and descriptions is the recommended and most common approach, even in complex, real-world environments. It is designed exactly for managing multiple languages across markets like Germany and the US, and in most cases there is no need to introduce custom fields or custom entities.

Have you specific business requirement about it?

I agree with Diego,  have you experienced some specific problem by using the standard translations?
