Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Archived)

Owner of Account

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Our company  was updated the Microsoft Dynamics CRM  to the new version of Microsoft Dynamics 365. The Dynamics 365 has limited licence and we have 15 licences only for Dynamics 365. As an Administrator how can I change the owner of account if we have more than 30 Salesmen who are the owner of these accounts? Since we have only 15 licences, do Dynamics 365 have remedy for this case without adding a licence for the Salesman that are not belong for the 15 licences?

    Hi

You have few options, please see below

    01. Reassigning all the records to the Sales users who have the license

You can reassign all the accounts owned by other 15 salesmen, please see below

the above approach allows changing the ownership of accounts owned by users who no longer has a license to the 15 who have the license.

    02. Changing ownership of the record to a common user but create Contacts for those users in CRM and allow them to work on using the Employee Self Service portal. This is kind of a workaround to let these 15 sales users who do not have the license to still work on CRM records

    03. If the other 15 users will not be actively working on records, you can still have them as owners of records in CRM but as Disabled users.

Yes, if you want your users to access CRM records, then you need some kind of licenses. However if you just want to associate some people to a particular records then you can associate those using contacts or custom entity. Having said that, they wont be able to use the crm system. They will be associated only for documentation purpose.

Please mark it as answer if it satisfy your needs. This will help close the thread logically and help other with similar query.

So it's a must for every Account owner to have a license right?

    Thanks for the response Sir.

If all 30 of them are going to use Dynamics 365 then you have to have licenses for all of them. Now what kind of licenses that completely depends on your needs.

Have a look at the licensing guide provided by MS.
