I am terribly frustrated with the poor online help for how to use Dynamics. I am trying to create my first business process and am referencing this Microsoft help topic: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm-customer-center/create-a-new-business-process.aspx
At step 12 it states:
If you want people to enter data to complete a step, select the field from the drop-down list. Select Required if people must fill in the field to complete the step and move to the next stage of the process.
I want a simple instruction to "Search state systems" so the user can check it off. When I enter that in the Step Name I get a red icon forcing me to pick a field from the Value column. I don't want the user to enter data!! I cannot create a step without having it require me select a field for the user to enter data. This is completely contrary to the information I'm seeing everywhere.
What am I doing wrong? The help is not helping.

I have the same question (0)Have you set up the field "Search State Systems as a binary or Yes/No field? If you do that will give you a checkbox on the business process flow. My guess is that you created the field as a text field, which is the default field type.
You will need to delete the field and recreate it.
Good Luck!
