Workdate changes automatically to May 4, 2025

Hi,

I created a new production environment with one production company. For some reason, this company is a demo company according to the company information table (Field 100 Demo Company = True).

Because of this setting the workday will be changed daily to May 4, 2025. Can I just change to value to Demo Company = False (using AL) or is there another way of changing the company type to production?

Thanks and best regards
Michael

    Hi,

I believe the wrong setting in Company Information was imported to production by using the standard rapid start package, which imports setting from Cronus.

The setting in the company table (Evaluation Company = false) is correct.

For this reason, I used Rapid Start to overwrite the setting in Company Information to Demo Company = false. The setup of a new production company is too much work since the productuion company is already live and postings would need to be reproduced in a new production company.

    I hope this works :-|

If the presence of demo data or setup doesn’t affect you, then yes, you can simply disable the Demo Company setting.

You’ll need to do this in two places:
    • On the Company Information page.
    • On the Companies page.
Once both are updated, the Work Date should function correctly. You can do it with AL or using configuration packages without validation. Either method works.

Manually changing value Demo Company to False would be a bad idea. In Demo company there are lot of unneeded data and setups that are not needed in production company.
Better would be to create a new company and migrate the setups and data as needed.

Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on your location!

To address your question, while it is technically possible to change the Demo Company field value to False using AL code, this is not the recommended approach.
Instead, you should follow these steps to properly change the company type to production:

    1. Create a New Production Company:
      • Use the Create New Company assisted setup in Business Central.
      • Select the Production - Setup Data Only template to create a new production company without demo data.
    2. Export and Import Data:
      • Export the necessary data from the current demo company using configuration packages or RapidStart services.
      • Import the data into the newly created production company.
    3. Verify Settings:
      • Ensure that the new company is correctly configured as a production company.
      • Update any necessary settings, such as permissions, workflows, and integrations.
    4. Test the Environment:
      • Before going live, thoroughly test the new production company to ensure all data and processes are functioning as expected.
This approach ensures that your environment is properly set up as a production company without any residual demo settings that could cause issues in the future.

    Hope this helps some!
