Appointment continuously creates 1,000 appointment records each week

I have a user in Dynamics experiencing a strange mailbox issue. An appointment once per week will create itself 1,000+ times at the same day and time. The appointment is not on the users calendar in outlook and if left alone each week will continue creating more and more records.

I have tried deleting all appointments but appointments recreated
I have tried closing all appointments but new open appointments will recreate
I have tried to resync the users mailbox but the appointments still recreated

Are there any thoughts on this? Could it be more related to exchange vs Dynamics?

    Hi,

According to your question about duplicate appointment creation

Our team searched Microsoft documentation and found that this issue may be related to both Dynamics 365 and Exchange, but it is more likely to occur in Exchange, here are some guesses from our team about this issue

First of all, according to Microsoft official documentation, the synchronization between Dynamics 365 and Exchange is bi-directional, any changes on one side will be reflected on the other side, but only if Appointment meets some requirements will it be synchronized to Dynamics 365

The specific links are as follows
Synchronization logic for appointments, contacts, and tasks - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

Secondly, for affected users, you can try to disable Outlook plug-ins, sometimes some third-party plug-ins will cause the problem, you can disable one plug-in at a time to check whether the specific plug-in causes the problem

Thirdly, check the Outlook profile of the affected user and try to create a new profile to verify if the problem will occur again

In addition, you need to check the rules for other workflows to automatically create or update records, which according to the official documentation can convert Activity to Appointment.
The link to the documentation is as follows
Automatically create or update records in Dynamics 365 Customer Service | Microsoft Learn

I hope my answer is helpful to you! If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Best Regards,
