SOP Blank Invoice Form

Posted on by 30

Ok i'm extremely new to Dynamics GP so you may need to explain in full detail. Here's my problem when tryuing to print a sales batch entry I get a Microsoft Word unspecified error. It says "The file SOP Blank Invoice Form(1) cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents". Then under details it says: Unspecified error

          Location: Part: /word/header4.xml, Line:1, Column: 0

After I hit ok then a Microsoft Word warning pops up and it says "Word found unreadable content in "SOP Blank Invoice Form(3)". Do you want to recover the contents of this document? If you trust the source of this document, click Yes."

This is not a program I use or ever will i'm just trying to fix the error for the accounting department. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks

*please remember I have very limited experience with this program

    RE: SOP Blank Invoice Form

    Kirk,

Really? Are you having trouble running the 64 bit version of Office? I use Office 2016 and have been modifying Word Templates with no problem. I would surely like more information of any problems you may be experiencing. I will probably be experiencing them soon :)

I think, as you do, that this error means something is messed up on the modified template. The only problem I have run in to with 32 vs 64 of office  is e-mail.

I see a lot of unusual results where someone has moved or deleted one of the bookmarks.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Marcus,

I would uninstall the 64 bit version of office and try the 32 bit version. Microsoft recommends running Office as a 32 bit application unless you are running into resource limitations.

I looked at blogs.msdn.com/.../error-message-when-printing-or-emailing-multiple-word-templates.aspx and this is not the fix since it also happens when printing a single document.

Ok office is running in the 64 bit program files folder. If it's completely nessassary to uninstall this and then reinstall it in the program files x86(32 bit) then let me know . Thanks for your help.

I should provide some additional details on accessing these templates.

In GP, right-click on the blue bar adjacent to the “Microsoft Dynamics GP” banner and select “Main”.  You should now have this navigation link bar available.

Go to Reports > Template Maintenance to open the Report Template Maintenance window.

Under the "Report Name" drop-down, select the report you want to edit.  Once the window refeshes, you will see all of the reports listed below, select the report that you would like to edit and click the "Modify" button to open this in Word for the necessary editing.

Once complete, the file will need to be reloaded into GP by clicking the "+" sign on the Report Template Maintenance window accessed again from Reports > Template Maintenance.

    Re: SOP Blank Invoice Form

This is usually contributed to a modified form that was not saved with the "Maintain Compatability Mode" checkbox selected.

Take a look at this blog post for details:

    blogs.msdn.com/.../error-message-when-printing-or-emailing-multiple-word-templates.aspx

Also, verify that Office is installed as a 32 bit application, as this will lead to problems as well.
