Picking raw materials with LP-controlled locations

Hi,

I'm working on an AX 2012 R3 CU9 environment.

I'm facing an issue which I think isn't well handled. The situation is the following:

Location A - 100kg physically available from Raw Material 001 (RM-001) - License Plate: LP-001

Let's say to make the situation easier that I have a Finished Good item (FG-001) whose formula (i'm working with batch orders) has one line to consumpt 1kg from RM-001 for each kg of FG-001.

Now, there is another Finished Good item (FG-002) which also consumpts RM-001.

So, if I created two batch orders (one for FG-001 and the other one for FG-002) when I released both, reservations will work and will get (f.e.) 60kg from RM-001 reserved for FG-001 and 40kg from RM-001 reserved for FG-002.

I have setup my wave templates to automatically create work as soon as an order is released, so I will get two works, both to pick the RM-001 from the same location.

The problem appears when the first work is performed. You are asked to pick the LP and when you do it you pick the whole quantity (100kg) instead the partial one.

When I try to perform the "put" work I'm getting an error message saying that "A quantity cannot be picked, insufficient inventory transactions with status on order, reserved ordered, reserved physical and picked".

As soon as I cancel the other work created, I'm able to process the "put" line work. However, I need to re waved the other order which won't create work because the quantities are already at the consumption location.

Is there any setup to avoid this behaviour?

Hope you can help me.

Thanks for your time.

Can you try activating the worker quantity confirmation on your mobile menu item?

KB 3005200 addresses some of this.  If you have separate picks AND the destination location (consumption location) is the same for both, when you pick one of the pieces of work, the other one gets cancelled.

But if they are one piece of work, or the consumption locations are different (which it sounds like yours are?), then it doesn't work.

There's also some new functionality where you can pick demand instead of rounding up to the LPN.

Hi BethT, your answer has been very useful.

I have one question left, when you talk about "one piece of work" you refer to both orders processed on the same wave so you got two pick lines for the same item, right?

I will try that KB. It will be very useful because my consumption location is always the same.

    Thank you.
