Installing PSTL

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello all,

My company uses MS Dynamics GP 10.0.  After a recent incident where some invoices were entered with incorrect dates, the Dynamics GP tech support staff recommended installing the PSTL tool to prevent future occurrences.  As I am a relative newbie with Dynamics GP, I was wondering if the PSTL tool needs to be installed only on the client workstation(s), on the server where the Dynamics data resides, or on both the client and server sides.  Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

It sounds like the tool you need to use is 'Doc Date Verify'. That is one of the free tools!  Yay!

    Kind regards,

Aaron is correct. Some of the modules are free but most you purchase. You can purchase the entire suite or just individual modules. You purchase these through your GP partner.

    Michael,

I believe you need to have a separate key to unlock the PTSL functionality. I might be mistaken here...but I believe if you contact your partner, they can work on getting you a reg key. There also may be a charge as well depending on which tool you are wanting to use.

    Thanks!

    Aaron,

Thanks for your reply.  One other issue has come to mind.  In reading up on Microsoft's documentation for installing PSTL, it indicates a license is required prior to first use.  Is this the same license as for the main Dynamics installation, or is it separate?  If it is the same as for Dynamics, can I find it by opening up Dynamics (e.g. looking in Help/About)?

    Thanks again,

    Michael

    Michael,

recommend you add this module though add/remove programs on the SQL Server. You will be required to launch DynUtils and generate the required SQl Server objects.  Once that is complete, this do the same process on each workstation that you want to use PSTL.  There won't be any DynUtils requirements from the client workstation.

Also..get backups of the DBs before working on the SQL Server.

    Thanks!

    Aaron
