Backup RMS database

I use a batch file script  in Schedule Tasks. (OSQL -U sa -P rms -S SERVER -Q "BACKUP DATABASE rmsdata TO DISK = 'C:\BACKUP\rmsdata.bck'"). It works great.

However, I also use a batch file script to send a copy of the backup over the network to another computer. (COPY C:\BACKUP\rmsdata.bck X:\BACKUP\rmsdata.bck but Schedule Task does not complete it. The batch file works manually, but Scheduled Tasks will not complete it.

What Can I do?

    Hi Tom,

I will leave this here for others to answer if they have set this up.

You may also want to try posting this for the Windows team in regard to the Task Scheduler.

    Hi Tom,

Here is a copy of the script I had written by my RMS partner New West Tech in Portland.  Maybe this will help.  It is out of my scope of development, but it has been working for me.  Our solution involves sending the copy to a NAS in our warehouse (on the same network via a WIFI bridge a couple blocks away).  I believe "y" represents the mapped network drive path to the NAS location.  Hope it helps.

    del c:\backup\backup.bck

sqlcmd -U sa -P XXXXXXXX -S (local) -Q "BACKUP DATABASE rms TO DISK='C:\backup\backup.bck'"

    Xcopy /y C:\backup\backup.bck Z:\backup\backup.bck

I use a program called SQL Backup Master which i find great for automatically backing up my databases.  We have 7 stores setup and it will do full and differential backups on whatever timeframe you want.

    Free and pro versions  https://www.sqlbackupmaster.com/

I stumbled on what may be the solution. In Scheduled Task, General Tab, I unchecked "Run With Highest Privileges.

I found the simplest solution to work the best for us, that is a script (bat file) for the hq backup, then a script to upload it to Amazon S3. It has been very successful. I put the scripts on each POS. Then task manager to schedule it after hours.
