SharePoint Integration to Dynamics 356

Hi All

I turned on SharePoint integration for dynamics 365 as I hope to use this as a file repository to avoid too much database cost. However, I would like to categorise every document uploaded, making it easy to browse through the documents.

I need advice on a better way this can be achieved.

I have created an Option set field on the SharePoint document entity, but this didn't work; instead, I am getting 1 or 0 Value.

    SharePoint Integration to Dynamics 356
    Hi Abi A,
It sounds like you're facing a common challenge with SharePoint document organization in Dynamics 365 integration. The issue you're encountering with the Option Set field and the "1 or 0 value" is likely related to how SharePoint fields are being handled in Dynamics 365. A common workaround to better categorize and organize documents is to set up custom folder structures, but this often requires more flexibility than the out-of-the-box Dynamics 365 integration provides.
How SharePoint Security Sync Can Help:
One effective solution is SharePoint Security Sync. This tool integrates Dynamics 365 CRM with SharePoint and can significantly improve your document organization by allowing you to create custom folder structures based on your specific needs.
With SharePoint Security Sync, you can:
    • Create Custom Folder Structures: Organize documents by time periods (e.g., every 6 months), alphabetically, or using custom fields from your CRM—whatever best suits your business needs. This flexibility ensures seamless document categorization tailored to your processes. Additionally, by creating a custom folder structure, you can efficiently navigate and overcome the 5,000-item limit per list or library in SharePoint.
    • Sync User Security: SharePoint Security Sync ensures the same user access and security settings in SharePoint as in Dynamics 365, keeping your documents securely managed and appropriately accessed.
    • Improve Document Organization: With the ability to create logical, custom folder structures, SharePoint Security Sync helps ensure documents are easier to find and more effectively categorized.
    • Auto-syncing security privileges from Dynamics 365 CRM to SharePoint to ensure the same level of document access control.
    • Move Attachments: Bulk migration of attachments and detailed error logs for seamless troubleshooting.
    • SharePoint Metadata: Enhance document organization with customizable metadata columns in SharePoint.
    • Migrate Email Body Content: from CRM to SharePoint while ensuring customization options.
    • Preserve Confidentiality: Preserve document modification dates for privacy and confidentiality compliance.
If you're looking to enhance document categorization and streamline your workflow, SharePoint Security Sync could be the perfect solution for you. It automates folder creation and keeps your documents securely organized across SharePoint and Dynamics 365.

    Hi Abi - A,

Yes, this is a limitation. You can only modify the field from SharePoint as you said.

    Hi Abi - A,

You need to remove this field from view and delete it. Then recreate this field with 'Single line of text' and make sure the display name is the same as the column in SharePoint.

The column(it's type can be Choice) in SharePoint:

    The result in D365:
