Are real-time workflows supposed to update a form live without a refresh?

I used Ribbon Workbench to add a few custom buttons to my custom entity which just trigger an on demand, real-time workflow. All the workflow really does is update a bunch of fields on the form and send email notification. When I run it though they never update unless I refresh the view, but I thought I read online real-time updates live. I've tried the fields in the header, footer, body, none ever update without a refresh. Is that how they are supposed to work? Wish it would do it live without a refresh.

Small side question, when I run the workflow it gives the generic pop up about are you sure you want to execute this workflow? Is there any way to customize that, or remove it all together so that it just triggers? It's not the end of the world but if it's going to say anything it would be nice if it was more relevant since most users have no idea what triggering a workflow means compared to "Are you sure you want to submit this order request?"

Hi Lee,

For the first part of your question I think you may be getting real-time workflows and Business Rules confused.

If you want real time updates to happen without a screen refresh could you put the logic to update the fields in a Business Rule and then just put the Email part in a workflow, then the workflow doesn't even have to be real time?

On the second part, I don't think there is a way to remove that generic message. Alternatively you could put a new field on the form called 'Submit Request' then fire a Plug in to do the logic.

Basically I have a ribbon workbench button, or I trigger it via Run Workflow. All it does is creates an opportunity from our custom quote requests entity, and then updates a couple fields on the quote request entity to show Yes that the opportunity was made. The workflow works fine but the fields on the quote request form never update (like opportunity that was created) without refreshing.

Hi Lee If Try Setting the Update Step before the create step do you still get the same issue?

Same issue. I tried to do a simpler test, an on demand real time workflow that just updates a field to No. I ran it and nothing happened, refreshed the page and the field had updated. I figure it's easier to troubleshoot, all it does is change a "Quote Requsted" flag to "No" which is on the Body and Footer.
