Change Task completed by on Task

Hi,

Is there a way to change the Task completed by user field if the task has already been completed?

Let me explain:
I have added a list of task types to the task entity that the user must select from when they create a task.
These tasks are part of a Dynamics workflow that will update a read-only record and will also automatically complete the task. Because of this, the flow must run as the owner of the workflow who has admin rights that allows updating the read-only record. The problem is that the task is then completed as the owner of the workflow. But both the owner and created by fields shows the user that selected the task. I want to update the Task completed by field with the created by user.

User selects the task and clicks save
Workflow runs as # Admin  and completes the task
The task will show: Task completed by # Admin
I want it to show user A

I have tried using Power Automate to do what I want but haven't been successful.

Any ideas or have you seen a plugin that will do this?

Thanks

RE: Change Task completed by on Task

    Hi Partner,

The user who behind 'Task completed by' is value of modified by field.

The "Modified by" field will set as the last person who has created or modified the record automatically.

As you mentioned,"the task is then completed as the owner of the workflow."  so last person who modified the record is the owner of the workflow.

So if you want to change the Task completed by user field, you need update "Modified by" field after completing the task.

And it's difficult to update the "Modified by" field, flow or workflow can't achieve it.

Maybe you can refer following link to do with the help of Pre-Operation plugin.

Update records without changing ‘Modified-By’ & ‘Modified-On’ in Dynamics 365 – Power Platform Learner (sudheerreddy.me)
