Displaying Notes in a Custom Entity Document Template

Good Day

I have created a document template that extracts data from a custom entity I have created.  Each week I want users to add updated notes to the entity record and then want to be able to include these notes in the document template that I'll run to send out to a wider user base who does not have access to CRM.  Ideally I'd want only notes from the last X days included so it just picked up the latest notes if there were any entered.

Is this at all possible?  I've played around using views and looking at the Notes Entity but I can't seem to find anyway to include this.

Thanks

Robin

The related 1:N entity is called 'annotation' in the SDK.  When you create the Word Template, be sure and include this related entity or it won't be available to show the data.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to sort the records, as far as I know.  You should be able to show them in the word template though.

I was after using this in an Excel template (sorry I should have said) any ideas how that could be achieved?

I think the concept is the same for an Excel template?  I haven't done much work with those, and only a bit with Word templates.

In either case, you need to get the 1:N records from the related 'annotation' entity to get the text of the notes entered.

    Good luck!

    Hi,

In the Excel template you can't bring back related records - only the fields you can get in a view. You can try running your template off a Note / Annotation view and linking to the 'custom entity' and bringing back data from your new entity. You'd end up with one row per note giving you multiple lines per custom entity, but you can group them in a table in Excel!

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question.

    Thanks,

     Aiden

    Okay, I'll try that.  Thanks.
