Production order of finished goods produced before bulk

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Dear community

We start using capacity reservation in axapta 2012 R2. We face some strange issue in production control. We work with BULK and FINISHED GOOD Items. The bulk production (multiples are possible) will be used in the finished good items so it is actually a sub – BOM of the finished good. In the production control, our BULK items are some times produced after the finished good item. Do you know how I can set up, that a BULK item has to be produced before the referenced finished good production?

Bulk and FG are two seperate articles with different BOM and routes. The Bulk item is part of the BOM of FG.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best Regards

Fabio

    Hi Fabio,

Unfortunately, I don't know how you are currently using the system and then also what is going wrong or not. As I don't know the details, I cannot suggest anything related setting A or setting B. That is the reason why I did ask you to describe your process in more details with system steps.

    Hi André

Thank you fort for your time, reading my question and coming back to me.

I assume, the issue is because of a missing or wrong setting, but in fact, I do not know which parts are all relevant in order to achieve the mentioned results. We do not allow negative inventory. Could you tell me which settings are relevant for my target so I can give you a more precise answer?

    Thank you

    Fabio

thank you for you time and investigation.

creating a dinal assembly to bring FG and bulk together will not solve my issue: it could still be, that based on capacity, the system suggests to make bulk after FG - in fact I have to wait for the bulk item before I can start. meaning if Bulk is after FG, FG needs in fact to be done after Bulk is finished so it needs additional production type after bulk. the sequence, "bulk only then FG" is very relevant... Do you have a further idea?

    Thank you

    Fabio

Consider an addtional final assembly bom parent  to bring together both tthe fg and the bulk sub assembly items .

i.e. both the fg and the bulk are in effect produced to stock and are then effectivley pciked and  kitted to the end item. Each can be produced independently and with differnet mrp policies - the demand dates then references to that final parent item.rather than across the two sub boms/formula

    Hi Fabio,

There can be a lot of procedures and setup determine the behavior of the production module. Are you using backflushing? Do you allow for negative inventory? What settings are made in the routes, BOM? Are you using masterplanning, .... Please tell how the system is setup and what precedures/steps you usually have to follow to create and post production orders.
