SOP Blank History Order Form - word templates

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

I have set up GP2010 to use word templates, but when I try to email an SOP Blank Order Form, I keep getting this message:

A Word template must be assigned before sending this document.

I have already gone into Report Template Maintenance, select this report, and assigned it to both the company and all of the customers.

I can successfully email the SOP Blank History Order Form.

Has anyone seen this before?

    Hi Jeanenne,

    Thank you for the reply.

When you are in template maintenance and select the Template does it say Original or Modified in the status field?

Also go under Reports | Template Configuration, expand out the Company, expand out Sales and verify that the checkbox is marked for the SOP Blank Order Form Template.  If it is marked unmark it and re-mark to click Save to re-set the window.

If you click on the printer icon and try to print the report instead of emailing, do you see the option for the Standard report & Template?

Have you applied Service Pack 1 for Word Templates or are you running the original install?

I look forward to getting your update,

Security was set up to use the modified version of the report, but we only had the non-modified word template. So I changed the security to the non-modified and I got it to email. When I create a modified version of the blank order and change security back, I am still get that error message. I have gone into reports - template maintenance and assigned the modified template to the company and customer. I'm not sure what else to check.

    Hi Jeanenne,

Thank you for your inquiry to the Online Community.

Typically the message A Word template must be assigned before sending this document is related to printing the non-modified version of the Template but the user has access to a modified report in Report Writer or vice versa.

I would start by checking security under Alternate/Modified Report and Forms. If you see that the SOP Blank Invoice is modified and that report is marked you will need to create a new Template that is linked to the modified Report Writer Report.  If this is the case you will need to  select SOP Blank Invoice Form (Modified) from the list in Template Maintenance and then create a new Template using the default Original Template as a base. The default will be marked with an asterisk.

The other thing you need to check is what report is selected in the SOP Setup as the default. If you are emailing then you will need to have the Blank Invoice selected as the default.

I hope this information is helpful to you.  Please post back if we can be of further assistance.

    Have a great day!

I already have the customers set up to use this template. I can email the sales order history template with no problem, but can't email this one.

    Jeanenne,

If you want to email templates for customers, you have to setup each customer on top of setting up the templates themselves.  for the customer you are trying to emai, open the customer card and click on the email button at the bottom right.   Enusre that you have selected the templates that you want this customer to be able to use, as well as the document type and default message.

Let us know if this helps.

    Regards,

    Aaron

I went back in to Report Template Maintenance, selected the SOP Blank Order Form, clicked Assign and customers and found that all of the customer classes that I have selected are unchecked. I rechecked them, clicked Save and closed. When I go back into this screen, they are unchecked again. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
