How to create a Custom AIF service to match a WSDL from Vendor ?

Hi AX Group, my vendor is providing us a WSDL document and based on that I need to publish an AIF service from AX 2012 R3 CU11

This is not about AX to call Vendor's Service, but the other way and Vendor would dictate the WSDL of this Service

Any ideas on how to achieve this using AIF custom service framework in AX 2012 and match the Vendor's WSDL?

Thank you

San

Are you sure you have to follow a WSDL given to you? It's very strange and it's likely impossible, unless they model their WSDL according to AX namespaces etc. By why anybody would do something like that? A workaround could be building a middle-tier web service, but I would first challenge the whole idea.

Don't they rather mean a particular structure of data, instead of the whole WSDL?

AX has a fixed WSDL message envelope format, so even if your vendor is spinning on their head trying to get this through, it will not happen. What you could do instead is message transformation via XSLT, or use a middle-tier as suggested by Martin, like BizTalk, or Azure also has new features now for this to replace the oldfashioned way.

Note that WSDL (Web Services Description Language) is a language describing the service itself - its operations, data types, namespaces, the service address and so on.

When talking about envelopes and transformations, we're talking about SOAP messages and not WSDL.

thank you Martin and Vilmos for the response. I am still waiting for the response from Vendor, during the meetings they mentioned it as WSDL, may be all they are referring is an XSD (a particular structure of data). I will update the post as I know more.
