Change NAV SQL DB to another New Drive

Hello,

The current NAV Drive(E) cannot be extended for more space storage due to some error  and it is recommended to create a new storage drive(F) for NAV DB within the current server to resolve the problem. What would be the best solution to migrate NAV DB to new Drive location.

Thank you

Take the database offline, disconnect/detach the database. Copy the file to new drive and attach back to SQL Server. Make sure you define path correctly for each file while you attach back.

    Hi Eri,

Detach, copy and attach database as Ashwini mentioned is a way. Besides, you can:

    1. Stop all related NAV Services.

    2. Backup database.

    3. Rename database (on drive E).

    4. Restore the backup with original database name, to drive F.

    5. Start all related NAV Services.

    Hi Eri,

Agree with other members Follow the steps shown by Ashwini [ also agree with khoa]:

Always make sure you stop the Services. Before taking the Database offline make sure all the users have saved their works and closed the session.

Also make sure your Drive is not corrupted, run the chkdsk command to ensure the disk partition is healthy....

And last but not the least always keep a backup in another media...
